[an unsaid quip — something about catching flies — dies on the tip of his tongue as soon as she offers him the opportunity to sit down. his eyes flit between her and the too low chairs and the two beds. one still sleep rumpled and the other also a little sleep rumpled though less so. he wonders if that means that she's sharing the 400 square feet of space that this dingy room offers or if she's used them both; then he wonders why it's any of his business one way or the other.
clearing his throat after what seems like too long to pass off as casual silence he offers up a quiet reply.]
Maybe. [he points to the less rumpled of the two beds.] This okay?
[ it's the one closer to the door, and really only rumpled from daisy unloading her stuff onto it when she came back from outings or errands. no one's slept in it.
maybe she should sit down too, though. standing and staring at him while he sits on the other bed in her too small guest room just feels... weird.
after what feels like too long, she finally pipes back up again: ] It's been a while.
[ since she's seen him. since he stood her up. since they last played catch-up. they have to do it again, and so daisy does. she launches into what's happened on the last season over the last few months, between being shuttled to the future all the way to mack's instatement as director and her new (old) role as an agent.
how they were boots on the ground now, real and official, trying to figure out what that meant in the wake of everything that had happened. post-thanos, post-snap, post... everything.
when all the words get out, when she finally ends with where they'd left may and coulson (but not lola), daisy offers a tight, quiet smile. ]
