[ rey's not incredibly sympathetic to this assumption, and it has nothing to do with illya's conversations with her. rather, it's perhaps because daisy is being hasty to dismiss any alternative interpretation -- any more generous interpretation. ]

[ here's a question, daisy. why are you holding a man you refuse to put a label on to a higher standard than your actual best friend from home? because fitz hasn't come to see you either, and you're not whining about that. ]

[ rey doesn't explain further. doesn't explain that she's never had anyone come to visit her in the hospital, and she'd only visited finn once to say goodbye before she'd left for ahch-to because she couldn't stand to look at him and feel the guilt otherwise. some people don't know what the common sense around these things is. some people have never seen it. ]

[ because she would, if she could. she'd never want anyone to feel as alone as she's felt. whether here in the safehouse or back in quarantine or even just in her van, the feeling of loneliness weighs the heaviest on daisy. ]

instead, she appears shortly thereafter. rey does a good job of masking the way she walks gently to account for broken ribs, but you know. daisy's a spy, so i'm registering that it's happening. she makes her way into the medical area of the safehouse carrying a backpack.

she settles in — slow to sit, careful — beside daisy where she's recovering and from her backpack produces two foil-wrapped burritos. she hands one over. ]

The restaurants are all showing off this week. You're missing out.

[ rey's one of the first people to come see her, and as such, daisy's not totally up to snuff just yet. as much as she'd like to sit up to greet her friend, the feeling of intense pinching pain along her spine and lower ribs tells daisy that horizontal is probably still the best plan for this particular evening — at least until she manages to eat something. maybe then she'll have more energy to fight with her nervous system and tell the pain who's boss.

as rey hands over the burrito, daisy offers a weak, but grateful, smile. it's tighter than normal, not quite reaching her eyes, but there's sincerity still in it. she's just tired. ]

Thank you for this, [ in lieu of acknowledging how annoying it is to be stuck in here, unable to experience the outside world. quarantine and isolation have never been her favorite places to be. ] I was getting really sick of cardboard and flavorless jello.

[ She offers it effortlessly, unwrapping her own burrito. She's just here to sit and eat like it's normal, or anywhere else. No weirdness around the medical part. It's almost strangely antisocial, the way she sets about eating hero wn food without greeting and without putting all her attention towards Daisy. ]

Until you're out of here. [ However many days that takes. Rey doesn't mind. ]
