The lack of structure we currently have could spell disaster before long. Not could, will. I want to discuss electing a leader. Or at least someone representing one. What do you think?
[ CAN YOU TELL HOW HARD HE'S TRYING TO NOT BE HIMSELF
[ it's an honest enough answer. she really has to think about it. ]
i think trying to have what boils down to policy discussions with an ever-changing group of thirty plus people is asking for a miracle, though. how would it work? would it be one leader? a trio? tribunal council of elders? are we drawing sticks and whoever gets the short straw is the head honcho for the day?
No. I think Markus Manfred is the best choice to step up and act as a leader. Whether it's just as a symbol or someone acting with actual authority. With safeguards in place if he phases out, so we're not left completely rudderless. He already has one of the stronger relationships with Morningstar and has taken the initiative for the safehouses. People having a face they feel they can turn to will go a long way to making them feel stable.
if we're enacting some kind of leadership, i'd prefer a tribal council over a supreme leader. preferably with access for people to share their thoughts in a public setting, so that no one's voice is ignored.
i'm not saying he's the type. i'm saying there are varying priorities here, and in order for them to be fairly represented, we need more than just one guy being fed the answers. and if markus is a figurehead to represent us all, it'd be easier to come to conclusions from a small group rather than thirty voices all shouting at once.
neither am i, but that doesn't mean you don't lead anyway.
[ fight club. caterpillar classes. they're taking on responsibilities that lead others without wanting the responsibility anyway. ]
you have things to say, hafid, and they're worth listening to. helping people be careful, avoiding getting caught doing stupid things just to try and cover their tracks — you talked people out of that horrible fake engagement party idea before, and i'm glad you did.
[ it had been a stupid idea, but worse because she would have been voluntold by prompto as the fake fiancee. no thanks. ]
Hangups that come in the form of a cowl and a cape, with little regard for the people around him so long as they fall in line. I work better as a right hand to whoever is in charge.
could have been big brother, but this place is already a little too 1984 for me
[ they're already at each other's throats enough without inviting jury management and head of household competitions into the mix ]
i'm sure those are your intentions but if you want people to get behind this idea, maybe frame it as what's best for everybody, not what's best for you

I doubt this is going to fall into a dictatorship. Manfred hardly seems the type, but I'll keep that under consideration.

but if there's a new amsterdam refugee club version of the survivor tribal council, i think you should be on it. we could use your experience.
