It's history. And the history, the stories, are all about the heroes. I can't help her feel like a hero because I don't know her. All I know is the fragments that got to me. Honestly, I spent a lot of my childhood thinking plenty of it was just folk stories. Legends. None of it feels real out in the rim, where Jakku is.
before i got here, i spent the last god knows how many years trying to help people. it was all under the radar stuff. nobody knew about it, but it was important. what we did mattered. then i got superpowers and started getting flashy, and suddenly people knew all about that version of me. they didn't care that i was reckless or dangerous, all they cared about was the story.
i don't know what jyn did or whether or not she's a hero, but maybe there's more to it than just legends and myths. there were real people in that rebellion, and now you get to meet one of them.
I'm not sorry for telling the truth. And I'm not sorry for thinking the cause and its success is more important than who gets credit for it.
