We used to use paper and styrofoam plates back home. Eat your food and then toss it into the trash.

[ no messy clean up, no dishes, nothing but a potentially stinky trash can. ]

Easier for large groups of people. [ not everyone ate at the same time or at all so trying to have a dishwasher wasn't easy. people pitched in in other ways but the food situation was very fluid. ]
