[ she sends bobbi a pin to a small gym she's gone to a few times. it's not anything fancy, but it offers a sparring room and the convenience of being sparsely attended during the early evening hours. fewer people around makes it less conspicuous when she wants to practice with another of the displaced. ]
[ she'll be there — for the spar and then for some food and wine afterwards that she's already planning on talking daisy into because there are things that shouldn't fester. ]
[ the spar itself is good. better than good. a necessary release, a careful negotiation of pain and exertion and attention that allows both to let go of some pent-up frustrations; it lasts probably longer than it should, but considering their training, maybe that's not a surprise.
afterwards, though, is much more interesting. daisy's hands drag a thin terrycloth towel through her hair, blotting out sweat that's pooled on her scalp and the nape of her neck, trying to work through the tangles that have wedged their way in. ]
Not bad for being, what, almost a year out of practice?
[ give or take, considering this place and how many times the calendar has slid away from them unexpectedly. ]
[ the spar is good — daisy's out of practice, or so she says. bobbi both is and isn't: she's been keeping up appearances; katelin philips goes on morning runs and does yoga in parks when the weather allows, but bobbi's been keeping up with her training in the privacy of her own room, too.

(if anyone asks, katelin philips is an army brat, so it stands to reason she might have learned to fight at some point in her life. not like bobbi can, though, never that. it would defeat the purpose of the whole charade.) ]
