[ for a moment, daisy simply sits there, confusion overwhelming her thoughts. when the displaced still had access to the caves, daisy's focus had always been on training other people's powers. helping them gain control, helping them learn what they could do. she rarely spent time showing off her own, and what time she did spend practicing was often in private, working on fine control versus shows of power and strength.
now, after everything, she's gotten faster and better at what she can do — but she knows that rey may not entirely know what that is. after all, she hadn't been present when daisy had made a weapon for her. it had simply been handed off, already done.
maybe daisy needs to explain that. ]
i don't know how to do that. i can't change something that's already there. i mean, i could try and take apart a section of plumbing, use the pieces to make something else ... but then you've got an open set of pipes and a recipe for flooding, right?
fitz would have been better at this sort of thing.
The city turns off the pipes while they're blocked or being replaced.
[ she's learned this much, at least, while trying to address the issue. observe her visceral avoidance of talking about the loss of fitz, which she may never get over, because no one had ever done for her what fitz did. ]
No flooding. The problem is making something resistant to roots boring through, and then finding someone to fund replacing them universally.
i'm always down to help you if i can but i don't really understand how recycling a pipe into a different pipe is going to fix the plant problem if you wanted to make a statue of a giant plant man flipping off the una, sure, or a giant water gun...
[ she's not a chemist or an engineer or even a biologist. she's playing with the superpower equivalent of legos, and this real world problem feels way out of her depth. ]
Clearing them out isn't an issue. We have droids in the pipes for that; they're making quick work of clearing them. They asked people from my work to help with servicing the droids, and we have been.
[ one day ... she will stop saying droids. ]
It's fine. I'll try to grow them around. That should make a little difference.

i'm just saying i don't think my powers are gonna be the solution if keeping the pipes is your end goal
you said they were clearing the plants, right? we could try to help them do it faster
maybe burn them out?
