Your power -- does it work on things that aren't weapons?
I've been thinking about the plumbing problem. 🤔

The new company I've been working with, Riverstone, they're helping the government use droids to clear the pipes that have already been damaged. But they can't protect them against further breaches.

I think I can redirect some of the roots. Grow them out of the way. But that's a temporary fix.

Do you think there's something you could do for the pipes themselves, to make them more resilient?

Maybe a way to make the metal denser, resistant. I'd hate to see the plants damaged, so probably not anything electrical.
Or
Plants grow towards light, don't they? Phototropism.

[ rey doesn't know that. kira knows that. they both exist in her now, though. ]

If there were a way to use that, maybe, to coax the roots into growing away from the pipes and towards a light source.
An underground light source attached to the piping but separate from the piping? No, that's stupid.

Some. Not others.
I mean, it's a whole city's plumbing. Some of the trees sprouted through concrete or walls or underground, where there weren't really tunnels, just ... buried pipes.
Maybe a chemical coating on the inside of the piping? Something to reinforce it. Something we could flush through. Right now we're using droids to chop away what's blocking the pipes by growing through them.

The city turns off the pipes while they're blocked or being replaced.

[ she's learned this much, at least, while trying to address the issue. observe her visceral avoidance of talking about the loss of fitz, which she may never get over, because no one had ever done for her what fitz did. ]

No flooding.
The problem is making something resistant to roots boring through, and then finding someone to fund replacing them universally.

Well, it was worth a try.

Clearing them out isn't an issue. We have droids in the pipes for that; they're making quick work of clearing them.
They asked people from my work to help with servicing the droids, and we have been.

[ one day ... she will stop saying droids. ]

It's fine. I'll try to grow them around. That should make a little difference.
